So I did manage to get this installed before my 1/4 mile passes.
This IC has the tank configuration I want but is similar quality to the old except that it has a 6" longer core. I will eventually cut the tanks off this one and have a real core welded in.
The IC and air filter relocation decreased my delta T from 50*F to about 40*F for a 12 second pass down the 1/4 mile.
You guys ready for a good laugh? I figured I'd better take a pic now since it will be buried once it's installed.
This will be perhaps the hooptiest addition to my car yet. Ok, Ok, I admit that the ducting and heat shield are pretty bad. Like I said in my timesheet thread time to work on my list.
Behold the mandarin orange can recirculation port obviously I had too much to drink yesterday.
No no no.... Not jdm.
That thing crumpled like a tin can.
But seriously, WOW! If only I had not tried to readjust it. For a moment my car almost smelled completely stock
I mean aside from the burning paint on my jankyassed heat shield.
I am making another one with a scrap of aluminum tubing, should last a bit longer.
Would it work better to spray something that vaporized at a lower temperature than the water for your mist system? If it's water and it's not hot enough to evaporate, you're going to be blocking airflow with water. If whatever liquid you spray on there evaporates, then you'd get better heat transfer, no?
Since I did a coolant reroute, I just used the extra thermostat cap & bolted it up. For what ever reason this style of pipe was half the cost of one with a simple hose barb on it.
My wife suggested LN2 since it's inert, not sure how I would get it there though.
Nothing flammable will be permitted, it would be deemed a fuel leak.
I will try a finer mist at some point, what do you have in mind?
Here is the replacement for the tin can port. Just as hideous from the outside but I don't mind showing the inside this time. At least this one won't crumple if I try to change it.
WOW again!
OK I am now a firm believer in recirculation.
I have eliminated the crankcase fumes from my car. I think I will play with a lighter spring on my recirculation valve now that it only needs to stay closed in boost.
Got to try one of these out again
These ones do 11's and actually feel noticeably faster than my miata. Most of the high power cars I have driven don't actually feel that much faster.
I did a few things.
Yes, I love my stupid T handles, at least it's not censored.
Here is a stock **** for you guys to slob on
I'm usually not one to do this kind of foofy **** but that gts' steering wheel felt so nice. I would like to do my steering wheel when I get a bit better, just practicing for now. I was able to pick up a yard at my local fabric store for $20.
Also I swapped in the smaller compressor turbo since the drag race doesn't start until March.
Man! The thing is insta-spool compared to the larger compressor, no need to downshift when passing fools anymore, torque is on.
I can't seem to achieve 18psi above 6200 or so, either it's choking or my wastegate is blowing open. So I managed to swap the 2 port can on the smaller turbo by swapping the rod end to see if I can get a 4 port solenoid to hold a bit more up top.
Sort of wishing I had not ported the wastegate so much, but maybe it's just choking.
About 17.5k on the kit so far, obviously split between 2 turbos, but both are in perfect working condition.
Awesome! Thanks for the link Lars!
Ordered one along with a mac 4 port solenoid, will post pics and results soon. I may leave the wastegate port alone on this one, at least to begin with.
