Shooting for 350hp! PICS
Well in August of last year i purchased my first miata, a 1990 mairner blue with 87,000 miles for $1,800. Body and interior were in great shape other than the standard miata rocker rust.
Since this was purchased as a project car I was able to get to work right away. The first order of action was to get rid of the nasty rust. First step was to order a set of BTDT's patch pannels. Then to cut the old out, weld in the new etc.
Before:
Process:
New Inner Metal:
New outer metal:
Body all metal was welded in, primed and bondo'd. It is still sitting this way. Ill get the finishing pictures up as soon as i finish! (when i get the car back)
Engine work! (first is how I got it):
Cleaning/assembily!:
Fresh Block: Bored .020
Fresh Head: New seals/3 angle valve job
Internal ****
ARP studs for everything, Wiesco 8.5:1 ceramic coated pistions, Eagle H-Beams, ACL Race bearings etc.
Assembily:
Flyin' Miata Level 2 Clutch
Broke the motor in like this for 150 or so miles.
Ready for turbo!
God yes.
Godspeed gt3076r
Intake manni painted and put on with a thermal gasket.
Turbo!
Intercooler was a universal Ebay kit, welded everywhere i could, it only uses 4 copulers. Unfortunatly i dont have any pics of it right now but i will get some up asap!
Suspension!:
Rear subframes out!
Suspension pieces!
$150 later!
Painted!
Flyin' Miata springs and sways.
More pictures of the rear end when i get a chance to take pictures.
More information about the car:
As far as fuel management goes:
-750cc peak and hold injectors with inline resistors
-Duel feed fuel rail
-Wally 255hp
-DIYPNP Megasquirt
-Innovative LC-1
2.5'' BEGi old style down pipe - replacing this winter
Stock rear end as of right now, will be swapping sometime this winter.
Stock 5-speed, going to see how long it lasts
Turbo specs:
Intake :4 inch
Outlet: 2.5 inch
Compressor trim: 70 ar
Compressor Wheel diameter: 59.00 / 73.05
Turbine wheel diameter : 47.05 / 54.50
Exhaust trim: .86ar
Turbine flange type: t25 flange
Downpipe flange type : 2.5 v band
Cooling type: oil and water cool
The car is going on the dyno today, looking to get 350 wheel horses out of it or as close as I can. I will post the dyno sheets when ever I get them! Wish the car luck! Feel free to question or comment!
Thanks for looking,
Mike

Did you do like 18psi did and block off the water ports on the turbo and run it oil only? Did you have to notch the frame at all for compressor clearance? Where did you buy your turbo from?

No in the background is a Quicksilver MXII. Nope I kept the water cooling, all I had to do to get it to fit was put a small bend in the frame with a hammer and it slid right on. I got the turbo new on ebay for, I wanna say right around $300 shipped new.
