You could always repaint....

Although if you do that you might as well tear it down to a bare shell...

Nah, patience to get the right car is what I recommend after my efforts. I hope they write the check soon for yah Ed. My insurance gave me the payout amount and it took them about 3 months to actually deliver the check to my lien holder.

Fixed that for ya.

Seriously, get what you really want. Don't settle if you don't have to. There are places to compromise, but there are also some things that you will regret later on. Hasty decisions are usually bad ones.

I hate red, but VRM is pretty sick.

Look for an 02SE.

Why particularly an '02 SE?

I will be looking to spend under $8k including transport for my replacement car, and if it's not an MSM I'd be looking for $6-7k. I couldn't make a car like that $12k MSM make sense. Way too much $$. Super nice car though.

Does a MSM have VVT? Why did I think MSM was still VICs while everything else in '04-'05 ran VVT? My main concern is what the wiring is going to be like between a MSM and non-turbo?

In the end you just want to have two running cars. A neutered totaled MSM has gotta be worth something.

No VVT on MSM.

Because it's the other way to get Titanium Grey Metallic outside of buying an MSM.

(It's a very slightly different color than the MSM, but would still make you happy.)

Heard back from the insurance company today. They gave me a $200 bump. So, after buyback and all fees and everything they're giving me $8160.

Whatever. I took it to be done with this.

Car is now at my house. Have a sunny day today but can't get under it today to assess damage. My job is just relentless right now. Hope to get under it tomorrow.

Either way, there's not going to be a lot of action here. Need to take a bit of a break from all this. But the car is mine again, free and clear.

Gonna source some opinions here.

I'm still trying to figure out what I want. I had settled on an NB2 and planned to hold out for an MSM. But then I remembered this car:

https://www.miataturbo.net/cars-sale...%248250-72324/

I ACHE for this car. I mean... seriously. I want it so bad. Obviously a deal like his doesn't come up very often, and if that same car popped up tomorrow I would be frustrating my wife by insisting to purchase it.

I thought the 10AE was too 90's for me but with some changes like David's I just love it.

So... what think you all? Two questions requesting input, one more open and one more specific:

1. If you could choose ANY 1st or 2nd gen Miata to build, which would you choose? Keep in mind that I've got a full built drivetrain.

2. Choosing between a 10AE and a Ti MSM, which would you choose? Why? What are the pluses and minuses?

I found this car, hardtop, low miles, super clean in WA. I figure the Hardtop lowers the price because I can sell my hardtop off the MSM.

1999 Mazda Miata Anniversary Edition

2000 SE's seem a bit cheaper than the 10AE's but not by much.

What thinkest all of you peeps? Which car is better looking to your eyes?

That is one damn clean car. That is also how I wish every for sale ad was made. THAT is how you sell your car properly.

I think you can always add any MSM'ness you want to the car later on. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a clean NB for that price elsewhere.

Do it, you know you want to fall into temptation.

Plus that blue looks sooooooo goooodd.

1) I'd choose a 10AE, 02 SE, 00 SE, 05 black cherry mica, or Laguna Blue NA. In that order.

2) 10AE. Hands down. Better color, super ricey awesome interior. Add the MSM bumpers and lights to it, then paint match for awesome. Plus, you'll be able to tell people you have a 10AE.

wow, that is a clean 10ae. Personally love the color and would get that car over a MSM as a base for your swap, not sure about the ECU compatibility though.

I love the 10ae msm idea^.

MSM stuff looks best on colors that the MSM never came in.

There's a guy out there somewhere that put all the MSM stuff on his Crystal Blue Metallic car. It was ******* INCREDIBLE looking. There's a white MSM out there as well, and it looks boss.

I'd get another MSM, splice the two together, and sell off remaining parts, resulting in probably the best financial scenario and perfect compatibility

I'm assuming you're talking about the modded 10AE. I'm hesitant about the stock one in WA for $9500. That seems like a lot, and a MSM drivetrain on the used market is worth more than a 10AE drivetrain. I'd start by offering him $8k.

Can't find a clean modded 10AE for that price, no. A stock one, sure. Thing is, I'm fine with more miles but I want something CLEAN.

Thanks for the input. I'm starting to lean this way. I LOVE the blue.

I want to know more about this. What sort of compatibility issues should I anticipate? What if I ditched the AEM for an MS, then would I still have compatibility issues? I'm an ignoramus as far as this goes.

LOL NO. I am buying a Miata. The only other car that has tempted me is an S2k but I can have a monsterly Miata for the price of a decent stock S2k so that won't happen.

Damn. OK guys, seriously, if you find a clean 10AE for sale please post here or PM me or SOMETHING.

Vlad, I'm still interested in yours. PM me back. White is tight.
