But, I fear to install it on me own vehicle. Uncertain glue joint on flexible material ... with my luck, that sucker would pop loose in the worst moment.
Getting ready to put my Miata back together this weekend. Got the coolant fitting replaced and got my manifold surfaced.
The mani to head nuts don't really seem to lock anymore. I'm guessing that's from heat fatigue? They seem to tighten down just fine, but I can spin them most of the way on by hand.
If I resbond them can I expect them to stay, or do I need to replace these nuts?
My experience is that, yes, this happens with the manifold-to-head nuts pretty much any time you've had them good and hot from track use and I generally plan on replacing most of them if I'm going to have the manifold off. That said, if it's the last thing stopping you from driving the car, go ahead and put it together with the old ones, drive the car, order new ones, and replace them when they arrive. It's not going to fall off in a couple weeks of driving.
It's been very nearly a year since the last post. Did 3 track days last fall - one at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, NV. Fun day, but man Porsche club is uppity.
Then Miatas at WRLS - Picked up EO2K's spots. Love that event every year, car ran like clockwork.
Finally did an xtremespeed day at Willow Springs. Struggled that day. Track got oiled, corner workers not paying attention, yelling at flag tower to tell them to pull their heads out of their asses and pay attention, there's a good reason 5 cars just went off on one corner. Half the track oiled.
RS3's are getting hard.
Next track day at Chuckwalla this weekend. Haven't made any changes to the car, but I took a job at 949Racing/Supermiata and am living in southern california now. So, like, if you have questions and stuff, let me know.
