aidandj: I've been down this path before. I have a tune that "worked" with my EV14 650s so it "should be easy" at this point. ;)
codrus: I'm setup for the stock BP4W right now, I'll get to sequential eventually when I redo my ignition stuff again. I don't want to screw with the wiring any more that I have to right now. Less variables = less things I ahve to touch/troubleshoot. |

What coils are you using? If COPs, then IMHO it's easier to just wire up a new harness for them and run it straight to the MS3 rather than hack up the factory harness with COP connectors/etc. If you're doing that, then making them sequential isn't any more work at all. I ran wires inside my MS3 so that all four coil outputs were on the db37 to make this cleaner.
Gotcha. That makes sense.

6:45 and I'ms still in the office

I hate those days. If I'm not gone by 6 I end up staying till like 9 just to get shit done so I can leave early the next day. But 645 on a Friday? You got commitment.

Weird, I tried typing this once, clicked submit, and it vanished. If it shows up twice, you know why. :)

As for leaving the office, up in in SJ there's not much point in trying to leave before 7 most days, because it takes forever to get home through the traffic. --Ian |

I love the professional opportunities (I'm an embedded systems software engineer). I like the weather (not as good as San Diego, but better than any state that doesn't start with C). I love the proximity to three (or four, depending on how you count Thunderhill West) awesome race tracks. --Ian |
I like portland more. The work environment is way more relaxed, its pretty common to show up at 9 leave at 430. And although the traffic is getting worse we also have 4 tracks within a few hours. I just have always hated the bay. I had an ex that went to Santa Clara and visiting her was hellish.

Well, I accomplished absolutely nothing yesterday. At least with regards to the car. Go me.
I pulled out the MS3 and the tuning laptop and went to boot everything up and... laptop Windows BSOD failcakes. I can't even get the damn thing into safe mode. Sumbitch. Swap in new HDD and proceed to reinstall Win7 while I pull my data off the old HDD. All my shiza is intact (including the TS stuff) so I figure I better get started on the exhaust part of the project while W7 runs its eleventyninequadrillion updates. I drag out my tools and exhaust parts and as soon as I get the car up on jack stands, my phone rings and its my Dad. He has some sort of plumbing calamity and needs another set of hands at his place. So I pack all my stuff back into the garage, grab my other tools and off to Dads for the balance of the day. I got home right about 7:30 and had no motivation to work on my own projects. Le sigh. But hey, at least now I have a fresh build of W7 on my laptop. I won't get a chance to play with anything today or Monday becauseanniversary but I'll see if I can't carve out some time next week after work. It'l be slow, but we'll see. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated but it is what it is. |
On mt.net on anniversary? You have bigger cajones than I do sir.

She's still in bed and I'm hiding in the garage, she'll never find me in here. ;)

Well, I'm sure glad I went back and checked my work because my injector harness is fucked.
I don't know if its salvageable or not. It was really pretty and now I have a sad. |
What did you do to it? and how did you mess it up?
|
It's salvageable, no seppuku tonight.
I needed to make a small repair and I needed to extend the wires to the coolant sensor for the M-Tuned reroute housing. For some reason that escapes me now I decided to do both those things in the same section of the harness and I swapped a couple of the wires. I discovered this when I was comparing my untouched factory harness to the modified one and things were not showing proper continuity. I'm pretty sure one of my injectors would not have appreciated being part of the signal path for the temp sender. I need to email Reverant and see if he recommends a firmware update before I get too far into this. Not because I'm trying to fix something, just because its probably a good idea to be on the most recent version. |
Ok, so apparently I didn't fuck that up nearly as badly as I thought. The only actual problem was that I swapped 2 of the wires for the temp sender. My jury-rigged contacts on the plug side (so I could connect my meter) were touching thus
However, this did not stop me from ordering connectors from Ballenger to build a new injection harness from scratch, so I've got that goin' for me. I also ordered tiny little contact probes for my Fluke so this won't be a problem going forward. Maybe tonight I'll finally get home before 7pm so I can get the GDMF exhaust and injectors swapped. :vash: Can I pump 12VDC into my MS3-Basic and run it on the bench without killing anything? I wanted to make some changes outside the car last night and I realized there is no external power on the MS3-B like there was on my old DIYPNP  |

I'll just backfeed it through the injector harness, what could possibly go wrong?
|

Not sure if kidding? Just give it 12v where the normal harness gives it 12 volts. and ground to the power ground.

|
Naw see, its backfeeding so it'll be reversed. I'll just put the 12VDC into the ground and then ground everything else. I'm sure it'll be fine.
