The box from Trackspeed showed up today!

It is rather professional packaging. Of course at this price point, one would hope for more than a set of injectors tossed into a sandwich bag with some styrofoam peanuts.
No TSE stickers doe :giggle: I ain't even mad, I have a bunch already. Trackspeed is also an Amsoil vendor so I took the opportunity to order up a pretty blue Amsoil EAAU3051 air filter and EAPF25 pre filter sock. After cleaning out my crossover tube and MAF a couple weeks ago I think I'm done buying K&N filters for this lifetime. Time to try out something new and Amsoil it is. The sock may seem excessive but then you have probably not seen how fine the dust and dirt is out here, plus I have a feeling when I eventually butcher a hood its going to drip water on the filter when it rains. The sock should repel water and keep the big chunks out of the filter and extend the service life. |
Filters look good. I think I need to order me one.

!!! Warning potato pics below!!!
Machine/Part setup: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/tf...o=w525-h709-no Trying to get it a bit closer to centered than Mazda did: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/mp...Y=w525-h709-no It's a through hole and I was feeling lazy... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/nA...4=w525-h709-no And tapped: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fn...k=w527-h711-no I also faced it so the end is perpendicular to the thread bore(better sealing with the crush washer) and deburred it, but those operations didn't get pictures. |
Damn, I missed it when you posted the pics this weekend. That looks absolutely perfect. I'm glad my rambling description of machining operations via text message made some sense. Glorious work as always sir
I have a bottle of Opal, Lil Opal, and Sour Opal that I picked up a F-W last week that needs to make it up to your place. Should make an interesting comparison :bigtu: I'll try to make it up there before, um, noon so we can actually drink and not worry about leaving at 10pm :giggle: |
I just called a local sign shop about a 4x8 sheet of black coroplast and they quoted me $23/sheet. I can hang with that so it sounds like its time to get my duct on. Their on-hold music also said they do vehicle wraps to I decided to inquire about getting a hood done in matte black. After some playing around in their quote system they quoted me $600 to do the hood alone. That's a big fat lolnope! Once I eventually find an NB hood I won't feel bad cutting on it'll be either a krylon roller job or plasti-dip.
|
Actually, if you do careful prep work, you can get a decent finish with spray cans. Prep, spray, sand (repeat eleventy billion times), cut, buff.
|

I got a really good result with plastidip on my hardtop. I got an even finish that looks matte and like bed liner by misting it over the top and letting it settle. Also thanks for he heads up on the coroplast, going to find some of that.

|
I also asked about Alumalite so I can maybe build a splitter, but had to explain what it was so I don't have much hope on that one. My driveway would forceably remove a splitter anyway so meh.

IF all goes according to plan, I'll be installing the MS3, ID1000s and RB header/midpipe when I get home from work tonight.
Humm... is this the time to rewire for sequential? |
I wanna say it's worth it but I noticed no change. Granted, I am 99% of the time goosing it so gas mileage is the last of my concerns.
|
Sequential fuel helps gas mileage, sequential spark does something else.
|
I already have sequential fuel, because NB. I'm wondering if I should take this opportunity to set up sequential ignition.
But I'm not going to because I don't have my shit prepped. I don't need to throw more wrenches into my tune than absolutely necessary at this point. |
If you have the car torn apart add the wires to the ECU. If you are just installing shit then skip it.
|
Yep, just installing stuff at this point. Tonight I don't expect to get much past the exhaust swap and maybe get the IDs and ECU installed. Expect calamity in this thread about 3 hours from now. :bang:
The broad strokes of the plan is to change my reqfuel and voltage calibration for the ID1000s and then spend the evening struggling with idle and restart. I can play with it more Saturday but Sunday and Monday I'll be out of town. |
ECU and injectors? Nono. Run stock injectors first.
|
What coils are you using? If COPs, then IMHO it's easier to just wire up a new harness for them and run it straight to the MS3 rather than hack up the factory harness with COP connectors/etc. If you're doing that, then making them sequential isn't any more work at all. I ran wires inside my MS3 so that all four coil outputs were on the db37 to make this cleaner.
