lol where'd you get 26?
don't forget to subtract 100kpa for atmo ;)

EO2K 04-25-2016 05:34 PM

I was under the impression that the pressure sensor in my MS would only go up to 22psi, so something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Or I can't maths. (probably the can't maths) But regardless of how much boost it makes, the best description I can come up with for this car is from my brother who says, and I quote "this is friggin' retarded" and "I'm probably going to die"

I need to drive it up to @gesso's house so he can drive it and motivate him to get the Exofish (or Catsocet or Gessocet or whatever its called these days) in the 100kpa+ range

What I REALLY need to do is put new valve stem seals in it and flash it to 1.4.x :bang:

I thought of that, but I wasn't sure! Ok so 12 ish psi. that is less impressive, but still awesome, if its that fast on 12psi.

What you need to do is bring it to the NCR meet on Thursday. :)

Its absolutely retarded on 12~15psi and the magic is all in the head. PSI is just a measure of restriction and I have very very little, the EFR is barely breaking a sweat at this pressure ratio. I'm no JKav but comparing it to other turbos that might be "more appropriate" for my "boost level" you either get too big (kills transient response) or too small (kills flow) and things become sad. Looking at just pressure I feel you could put a GT2560R on it and make 12psi all day long but it would choke out pretty quickly up top. Someone smarter than me could probably look at a log and figure out the actual volumes and numbers, but that's never been my strong point. The EFR is able to be responsive, provide enough volume and flow enough to not be a restriction in the system pretty much everywhere. I'm very happy with what I've got at this point. (Though I do want one of Andrews manifolds.) I would like to get it on a real dyno eventually, gotta work with 18psi and see if we can do a little follow-up.

Aww man, Thursday is no bueno for me this week. Is this going to be monthly? The wife has been working swing so I haven't had a chance to see her all week, but she has Thursday off so I'll get murdered if I try to sneak off for car stuff. Plus I'm going to attempt to make vina dosh (vinha d'alhos if you are from the mainland.) I've had 4lbs of pork marinating in the fridge since Sunday

So how are the kittens doing? We need a kitten datalog update!

yes, absolutely. holla at me when ready. my guess is 300 on the local mustang dyno as it sits.

Yeah, I should probably update The kitten & cat thread at some point.

This would not shock me at all. My big mental block right now is 1.4.x for the MS3. I don't care how many times I try to update it, all it manages to do is destroy my tune and make the car run like ass IF I can even get it started. Other than that I've be completely stoked when I actually get around to driving it.

My life and job have become really chaotic recently. When I actually have free time to relax I've had near zero motivation to touch anything car related. :(

Wow, I think the starter in the Miata just died. No clicking, turn the key and all electrical just goes away. I'm going to pull the battery and give it a solid charge just to see what happens, but it's been getting flaky for a while.

EO2K 05-29-2016 12:57 PM

Goddammit. I just opened the hood a remembered how impossible it is to get to the starter on a BP :vash:

codrus 05-29-2016 01:07 PM

That's what a lift is for. :)

Did you try the tap-it-with-a-hammer thing?

--Ian

EO2K 05-29-2016 03:15 PM

Yeah, that's on my list of things to do. I haven't touched it yet as I had to be somewhere this morning.

Also, is it really any easier to get to the starter from the bottom? I feel like the subframe is always in the way no matter what. At one point I was very close to buying a V8R subframe simply for the weight reduction and better clearance. Of course, if I wanted to save 10lbs I could save myself $800 and just loose some weight ;)

Well, it's pretty much impossible from the top unless you take the intake manifold off, so yeah, I think so. :) It's still a pain, yes.

The lift makes it easier than trying do it lying on your back because you've got a better angle.

I always end up popping the front wheel off as well so I can reach through from the wheel-well easier.

My car does this when the negative terminal gets too corroded to flow the needed current. Check that.

aidandj 05-29-2016 06:07 PM

Mine too

18psi 05-29-2016 06:15 PM

jack up pass side.
yank wheel off.
get dirtay and scratched
?????
profit

PS: disconnect battery unless you love to weld

EO2K 05-29-2016 06:42 PM

I banged on it with a really long extension and it fired right up! I call that fixed.

thumpetto007 05-29-2016 08:02 PM

^haha nice, hopefully you will be lucky, and it will start for many more months.
