Have you considered the marrad seat? Love mine.
It looks like a very nice seat, but its a single seat for $1,000. I can get a pair of sparcos, brackets probably harnesses and harness bar for that kind of money. That's a tough nut to crack right now. From what I can tell, Marrad makes seats primarily for old guys who drive corvettes and its reflected in the pricing. I will also say I've never sat in one. |
18psi drives a Corvette, maybe I can get him to buy one? :giggle:
http://www.arizenracingsports.com/pr....asp?prod=MLX1 Why is this combo $250 cheaper if I buy it not from Goodwin? |
It fits, has sliders, sub strap holes, and I find it extremely comfortable.

For me there are two major problems with the sprint. I had it on the driver side, so I did spend a considerable amount of time in it.
1. It's a sling seat. It's great because you sit super super low -- all other things being equal, you'll have more headroom in this than an SPG or shell seat. BUT it squishes your buttcheeks together on long trips and I hated that. Maybe I have a big butt. But there was plenty of clearance in the seat, it just doesn't support me properly. 2. That horrible metal bar that runs across the front. I like to sit pretty far back for my height, so my legs need to be able to come straight forward towards the pedals, not bent. That bar causes serious pain in the back of my legs and forces them to be bent. This was a complete deal breaker for me. I have had several tall people sit in the sprint and they love it. Some even like that bar because it supports their legs since they have to bend them anyway to fit in this tiny car. But for me it was a non-starter. |

Before that, it was the Recaro that Ian and I discussed earlier in the thread, but they are NLA. I was hoping to pick up a used one but I think I missed the boat on that.
https://www.recaro-automotive.com/us...sition-ng.html You want Recaros, harness bar, 6-point Schroth belts, and a HANS device. As for flatspotted tires, I *heart* my ABS swap. :) --Ian |

Hey. I never said totally streetable. They suck to get in and out of. But mine are perfectly comfy. Especially if you add some memory foam under the cover. I drove from Portland to MRLS and the only thing that hurt was my right heel. But that happens no matter what.
Was perfectly comfortable. ...and I daily a unicycle. perfectly daily. |
I mean if that's what your into.
Pretty sure @gesso daily's his unicycle. All I preach is that people try them. You have tried them and they aren't for you. Others havent. |
I'm just an old corvette driver :giggle:
(and what makes it really funny, is I seriously considered getting the Marrads a while ago  ) |
Not sure if they were stock. But my gf rode in my instructors car (C4) at ORP. And she said the seats were like floating on a cloud.

As I posted the previous time you lamented this, Recaro has addressed the FIA cert issue on the Pole Position and re-released the seat.

When I got mine they were more like $550. That was 8 years ago, though. --Ian |
The ultrashields are comfy for me, but not streetable. Way too hard to get in and out of. But once you're there I feel like they're quite nice. I wouldn't buy them.
I wasn't a huge fan of the marrad in Richard's car. It was nice, for sure. But I'd buy an SPG XL or pole position way before a Marrad. |
Silver car is foamectomied, Katzkinned stockers. Mmmmmmmm . . . .
