Most definitely eventually. My plans are to run the car at 325/330whp for track use next year after upgrading the turbo, so I'm definitely planning on using BBG at that point. As it sits, the car's power level is just teetering on needing BBG in second. If the tires are cold, I can spin em easy if I punch it in 2nd gear at 4.5-5k. With tires warm, wheelspin on corner exits in second usually isn't a big issue. I think adding even 25whp will really change the need for BBG in second, though.

West coast mountains always get me jealous of how much public land is out there.
Oh, and power, that makes me jealous too. 295 hp would blow my mind, 330 probably would feel like I got strapped to a Saturn V, especially with all the mad scientist noises a big aftermarket turbo car makes!
Looking forward to learning more from your experiments on the vibration. It's so frustrating chasing a problem but never quite finding the solution. I'm sure you'll get it soon.

Yeah man. Many of us out here talk smack about the BS that comes with living in Cali, but I'll probably never leave because of the weather and terrain haha.
The power is great too. Honestly, I don't think there's anything to be gained by running over 300whp in the canyons where I live. Even at altitude, there's enough power on tap to get to the next corner by the time your foot hits the floor haha. Again, if I was smart, I'd have called it quits at ~220-240whp.
...That being said, there was a guy in a track-focused E92 M3 chasing me down yesterday and my car was pulling on his in the straights. That was good for the ego
I'll keep the thread posted regarding the vibration results here soon. It seems just about everybody having a ZF vibration concern have fixed it by swapping to some other kind of differential. I'm hoping the Getrag swap finishes this saga once I put it in. There's a night event (5PM-12AM) going on at Willow Springs in late July that I'd really like to make it to!

No big mods or projects this week but we’re getting close…
Still waiting for the driveshaft to arrive and then I’ll be able to drop in the Getrag diff. Should hopefully have an ETA on that later today.
Obligatory photo from the canyons yesterday. It’s starting to get warm out here. My buddy in the background managed to get his oil temps up to 270*F on one hillclimb lol.
I think I’m gonna order a set of seat rails this week so I can finally mount my spare Sprint seat in the passenger side of the car. Also gonna grab everything I need to swap my oil cooler lines from 8AN to 10AN, something I should’ve done long ago.

Yeah, true. I almost always take ;em from the front haha.
Dude I need to get a sim setup and Assetto so bad. It seems like trackmakers have added 3 or 4 of our local canyon runs in the last year or so. I figure it's probably a lot of fun running them on the sim with no traffic.

I didn't even realize Assetto had an option for traffic haha. That's sick, I will definitely download the Beavismobile if I ever get a setup. Should handle like my car except better in every way

Last night was so much goddamn fun.
I used to post about this more, but our local kart track puts on a time attack for full size cars every other Friday night. It’s a tight course, probably the size of an average AutoX course, and is perfect for smaller cars. They space out three cars on the track, run them for three laps, then rotate the next group of three in. I haven’t been in a couple years because I figured my car was overkill for it with all the power now.
Well, I was talking a couple buddies and one that happens to live next to the track asked if I’d be game to take them out there for a ride along again. I said screw it, signed up, told half of everybody I knew and pretty soon we had 7 or 8 drivers rolling out to last night’s event.
My runs started out with some excitement. Second lap of my first session, my foot went to the floor and nothing happened. F*ck me, the throttle cable bracket I reinforced must have somehow snapped. I idled my way back to the pits, ready to Jerry-rig some sh*t, and was delighted to find that the cable had just popped out of the bracket. Cinch nuts were a little loose so I popped it back in, cranked em down, and put a zip tie on it in case something was causing it to push out. Hopped back in for my next session and didn’t have a further issue.
I ran the car in low boost for the first few sessions because I noted I had a mild misfire in high boost on the drive over. The plugs in my car have ~10-11k miles on them and 10ish track days so I wasn’t too surprised. I ordered a new set that should arrive today and gapped my current ones down a bit in the pits before switching to high boost for the second half of a night. The misfire subsided and the car ripped. 300whp on a go kart track is a dang good time haha.
For the final few sessions, the organizers let my buddy Patrick and I run nose to tail which was super fun. My car is a hair faster than his sub-2000lb, B20-swapped integra, but he’s the better driver. We were pretty close in lap times until this happened.
All in all it was a great night. We finally got off track at 10:45pm. My car set the fastest time of the night by a 0.4 seconds despite my driving being subpar. I’ll upload a full lap from my in-car cam later and will definitely be back another couple times this summer.

Thanks homies! I've got a decent exhaust leak developing in my flex pipe that I think is causing more flame-age than usual. Gonna try to get that repaired this week.
What're the odds of that, Nate!? Driving the car at 10/10ths on such a small track proves to be more challenging than expected haha. Hope you felt the same!
In somewhat related news, a bunch of the guys and I trekked down to the mountains in east San Diego county yesterday to do some driving. Somehow the only picture I took yesterday was of the pie I ate at Julian Pie Company. It was pretty damn good though, so I'm gonna share said picture. Boysenberry with apple crumb crust.
I had another fun car debacle yesterday. I was giving ride-alongs to buddies while everyone hung out for a bit at the top of Palomar Mountain. At one point after a couple ride-alongs, I noted my boost pressure dropped a few pounds. Did a quick underhood check and found nothing wrong/no obvious leaks. Turned off the boost controller and found my boost gauge reading 7lbs instead of the normal 8-9 that it reads on the wastegate. I knew we were at altitude but my boost gauge said the car was making 12-13lbs of boost where it had been making 15-16 on the same road just minutes before. More concerning, the MAP reading in TS on my dash wasn't reading above 160kpa in boost. Finally, it dawned on me. I pulled the passenger side carpet up and found the MAP line hanging on by a thread to the 3-way tee for the boost gauge. Surely it got stepped on at some point and wiggled loose. The line was just barely snug on the tee so I pulled the whole thing out and replaced it with some 3/16 fuel line I had in my toolkit. Problem solved.
The driveshaft for my Getrag swap kit is supposed to show up this week. I'm headed to the mountains this weekend but will try to get the diff in next weekend if all goes well. Then hopefully it's back to the track at the end of July for that night event!

Haha same here dude. Glad it wasn’t worse. I did note that the car was running a touch lean under heavy boost of course, but checked the plugs today and didn’t find any detonation, so I’m gonna pretend nothing ever happened.
As promised, full footage from Friday night. Great view of my buddy dropping his car into the dirt as well. Fun times!
Ignore all the clanking noises happening inside the car. This was right after I re-gapped my plugs and I forgot my ratchet and extensions were on my passenger floorboard.

I was rocking my usual 245 RT660s all around. Fronts had two track days on em and the rears were brand new as of a couple hours before the event. The road surface at this track is always slick as hell, though, and I was d*cking around a bit too. That first big slide in the right hander after the chicanes was intentional. I was curious to see how easily I could light up fresh tires in high boost mode lol.
I need to go back and see what I can do now that I have the track sorta down. I was able to get a 44.55 with some semi-hack driving and the fastest time I could find someone run in a car is a 41.25.
