sounds like the pilot bearing shattered. Normally that wouldn't really affect how the car drives/feels, but is very bad for the engine/trans because the input shaft could have wobbled around like crazy without the bearing. Just my thought

Is the little bearing inside the flywheel intact?

I guess pics will tell

also whats the easiest way to wire the innovate 02 sensor? is it easiest to come up through the hole for the shifter? or should i go around the top of the tranny and up behind the block or something. and can i just cut out the old 02 sensors?? since im replacing with the megasquirt, the wb02 is the only 02 sensor ill need??

Up to you. I'd choose the easiest route. Which is the 1st one you listed

ever since i got my car i have had a slight grind or so it feels going into 3rd gear. now it has gotten worse and it 'grinds' a bit going into 1st, 3rd, and 5th, but 3rd the worst and most often. it happens most in higher rpms. i have read that this is a common problem with the msm and it is most likely the syncro. i replaced the fuild in the transmission about 2 months ago and it was the same. its gotten worse actually.

i have read that the grind could be something in the shifter too. i read that someone replaced the bottom bushing on the shifter and that eliminated all 'grinding' is the bottom bushing on the shifter that bottom white(ish) plastic piece? (i dont think this would help my situation at all, because if the bottom bushing is what i think it is, mine isnt broken at all. but on my last miata this had to be replaced. it just made the shifter feel really loose when it was in gear)

also, being a noob and not knowing anything about transmissions really, are worn out syncros able to be repaired or is it easier to buy a new transmission. my car has a two year warranty on the transmission...would that be something i could finagle my way of being covered by the warranty and get a new transmission fo free?

It should be covered by warrenty, but that warrenty probably only covers 100% stock cars. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to find any and every way to void the warrenty.

I'd look into rebuilding it. A used MSM 6 spd is about 6-800 dollars, and that's roughly what a rebuild might cost, so at that point you wouldn't have to search around and you'd have a rebuild unit instead of an unkown used unit.

Doubtful it would be a "new" transmission. They would probably just buy a rebuilt one from somewhere IF you could get them to replace it. Curly is right though, they would probably LOL about honoring the warranty on a modified car.

But lets go back a bit further: what fluid are you using in this box?

Default oil and coolant lines/fittings

ok so im getting a little irritated. where can i get fittings for the oil feed from the block and coolant feed from the block? i love the idea of the banjo bolt but i obviously cant use the factory hard lines.

then what is an easy solution to the oil drain on the msm? the oil drain on the stock turbo was a two bolt flange. do i have to follow where that two bolt drain goes and eliminate it from there?

i have the coolant lines taken care of, as soon as i get the coolant feed fitting from the block. but i still dont have any oil fittings other than the ones in the turbo. i went into town today and 3 different shops told me they couldnt help me out. i figured an oil fitting would be pretty easy to find but i was wrong. and i couldnt get my lines made today because i didnt have the fitting

Can you pick up a cheap NB sump? I'm using a normal NB sump with an MSM engine:

This also eliminates the catch can drain thing on the other side which probably won't be used.

Run the LC-1 cable up through the shifter hole. You can stuff the unit itself in the console, there's lots of room on the sides and behind the airbag switch.

Looks great.

Default transmission bracket??

resurfaced the flywheel and putting everything in place with the new clutch. bolted the transmission back in place. but there is a little piece of metal, a bracket looking thing, that i cannot figure out where it came from. any ideas??

this is it. i know it has to do with those two really long bolts but i cannot figure it out...took the transmission out three days ago, those were the last two bolts i undid and as soon as they came out the tranny did too, so i didnt pay much attention to how it was assembled.

It goes between the bolt heads of those two long bolts and that bottom edge of the PPF. The bolts at the front with the tranny.
