Default Meghan the Touge Miata

Hello all,
My first Miata named Maya was my first car purchased in September 2018. After being tucked away all winter till March 25th the day I took and passed my license test I started driving it frequently. Although it was a 93 with the dreaded 1.6 the 7 previous owners had slowly added go fast bits like RB header, FM stainless exhaust, harddog double diagonal, Hawk hp plus with stainlessbrake lines, Flyin Miata Stage 2.5 suspension kit and more. On top of that it had a matching OEM hardtop and 51k miles. I absolutely loved that car and planned on keeping it forever. My favorite roads were around the Saugatuck reservoir up in Easton Connecticut. On April 21st it had been raining all day and being my last day of spring break I decided to go for a drive with some friends. The sun was just starting to peak out in the last after noon and after rounding a bend I got some lovely lift snap oversteer and slammed it into a guardrail at 35mph. I was devastated that I destroyed my baby and crashed my first car. Here are some pics below of my old car. I now have gained some sense of awareness and responsibility to realize that I was pushing cheap all seasons way too hard, and it’s absolutely stupid to drive 10/10th on the road. I was lucky I crashed on the one spot on that road that has guardrails otherwise it’s a 30ft drop down off the side of the road. Although this stinks I felt like I have learned a lot from it.

I quickly started listing parts on a partout thread assuming I would never be able to save enough to buy another Miata in the foreseeable future being 16. I had worked really hard at my bike shop job and my car detailing business to buy that car. Luckily my parents were very generous and saw how defeated I was by the demise of my last car and offered to help me out on a new one. This is where Megan my montego blue 96 comes in. Although the mileage scared me at 97k, the test drive revealed that the car felt really tight and fresh. Also being a one owner car purchased from and older couple, I knew it hadn’t been beaten on. So as it’s sits right now I have moved the radio, rollbar, speakers, Nardi steering wheel, fm exhaust onto Megan my new Miata. I’m currently in a car on my way to Maine for vacation but at home have Porterfield r4s pads with mogul rbf600 waiting along with Tein flex coilovers, racing beat tubular sway bar with 949 endlinks. I’m hoping to build a super gripped up setup so I’m going wide with 949 6uls 15 x 9 which make my Daisy’s with cheapo tires look weak. Although I lost a ton of money in crashing my old car, I feel as though I have learnt a ton of responsibility and mechanical knowledge from it. I’m trying to sell my hardtop rn to fund the 6uls. Here are some pics below. I will be continuously updating this as I eventually hope to go tse efr trubo but not for a long time. I will upload some pics when I get to WiFi. My theory for this build is have all the grip and supporting mods done so it’s ready for turbo/k swap. Would rather build it right the first time even if it takes longer for me to save.

Also so here is cool video I made on those reservoir roads with my first car pre-crash:
Cheers Nic

Meet Megan

Got some more stuff done. De powers steering rack fm way and installed shocks sway and endlinks. Can’t wait to drive this once the 15x9 6uls come in! Stoked
