OK so I have a renewed interest in working on my ghetto sled. As I was driving to work yesterday, I heard a nice little bang under the hood. Look at oil pressure, its good. Water Temp, good. Idle, good however i see a bit of smoke under the hood so my anus clenched just a little bit.
I look under the hood and my Power steering/ac belt snapped in half and was gummy. After a closer look when I got to work, one my power steering lines had burst causing my power steering pump to seize up. Now heres the thing, I forgot how much l enjoyed having no power steering until this happened. I want to convert my ps rack to manual but as i discovered, Mazda discontinued that idler pulley and bracket assembly for a manual car with AC. Anyone have a spare one lying around that they could sell me?
If not, ill have to try and figure out a way to have one made.
Second, gdnimrod aka Ryan on this forum is now going to be making fully adjustable seat rails based off of the discontinued Memory Fab low mount rails. I had those rails and there were numerous issues I had with them but the seating position was great. Ryan went ahead and re engineered them to the point where they are the best damn rails I have seen. I will be installing the prototype this Friday and will let you all know the results.

In addition, ive been driving around with a slow brake fluid leak for a month now as well as a fuel leak coming from somewhere. The depths of not giving a **** about my car or my life lately has made me just not care about these issues. I will be installing SS brake lines, putting in a new master cylinder, new pads and rotors. Im leaving the stock calipers and getting new rotors. Not going all out with the brakes for now.

Thanks to Rudy (rudes333) for the hook up on the roll bar and soon thanks to Ryan, (gdnimrod) for the incoming install this week.
While at Rudys house the other day, we noticed that he has rodents living in his engine bay leaving him little raisinet gifts. Yum. Perhaps actually driving the damn car every once and a while will prevent his car being full of ****.
To the the right is my 12 pound tank of an old seat rail. To the left is Ryans prototype rail that is in my car now. The damn thing cant weigh more than 2 pounds total and that seems like a lot. Its sturdy, seat width adjustable and dual locking but not quite finished yet. So far though, I love it. These should be in production very soon and will be well worth it.

I should be getting my hood next Tuesday and ill be putting it on right away. I feel good working on the car again. I'm really debating whether or not to go turbo this time around again or go back to an NA setup like I used to have. With me driving 80 miles round trip to work every day not to mention the copious amounts of times I drive 30 miles down to Miami a week on top of all of that, running premium gas is going to be too expensive for my taste in the very near future. I know the first thing I am doing once the new engine is in is getting a megasquirt and tuning for fuel economy before I make my final choice on turboing or not.

Roll bar is in! New rear brake rotors and calipers installed, no more brake leaks. I also cut out the rear bumper. I decided to take a few pics last night after I went buttsexing

Assuming:
-a generous 30c spread per gallon between regular and premium,
-an average of 25mpg
-gas tank of 13 gallons
-600 miles driven a week
-31,200 miles driven a year
Then:
-Each work commute will cost you $1.28 more if you use premium.
-Each round trip to miami will cost you $1 more if you use premium.
-Each gas tank fillup will cost you $4 more
-Each week you will spend $9.60 extra for premium
-Each year you will spend $499.20 extra for premium
I hope boost is worth it.
