You should be able to take a long screwdriver or pry bar and listen against your temple to determine if the noise is coming from the block or which cylinder in the head, and which side of the head.

Then pull the valve cover and measure lash, report back.

then I'll tell you what to do which will probably be to tighten the cam caps.

Didn't this same thing happen a month or so ago with someone elses new engine?

Me. I also had the symptom again but it was a loose cam pulley.

Original youtube link fixed.

Turns out the problem was right in my face the whole damn time. The cam gear bolts all slipped and advanced the timming 12 degrees. After I fixed it, the problem and noise was gone. Im taking that damn thing off tomorrow and replacing it with a stock one. I just really hope nothing else got screwed up in the process...

Our valves can't hit the pistons. But I hope there wasn't much detonation.
