So, I've been working on fitting the 2001+ ABS system into my 94 chassis.
So far, so good, but slow.
Got some brake pipe, fittings and flaring tools to make it nice.

I needed to adjust the 2001+ ABS unit brackets slightly to fit in the car and still mount the fuse box and not crush existing brake lines. That is all done now.

Next steps are, fitting the unit. Making intermediate pipes to the ABS unit. Do all the wiring, which sounds harder than it is.

If I can make it, I will do another track day next Wednesday to test the ABS/EBD system.

Slightly more seriously: there isn't even fluid in there, so not sure what you're referring too. I'm replacing the half baked fluid reservoirs too.

Exactly

Weren't both you and Ton dealing with less than awesome or even questionable reservoirs?

Yeah, the caps on those might need replacing every other week to keep them tight.

Anway, the NB2 ABS unit test fits in it's new bracket.
Next are hydraulics and electrics.

I think mainly because people don't usually have flaring tools at hand. So if you mess things up, you'll have down time. Also, it can get frustrating if you don't understand that the flare forms the seal, not the fitting itself.

I'm saying this before I've actually been able to test the system. But flaring, bending, cutting, deburring, etc. is actually quite easy and relaxing work. That is, if you have ample supply of cunifer brake line, nipples, joints, etc. and the proper tools.

I use this flaring tool:

Very nice. Looking at yours makes me realize that the bit I've been dreading about converting mine (installing the line that goes to the rear of the car) would be a whole lot easier if I just chop off the end of the line that's already in the car and splice on the end of the 2003 line that won't fit past the transmission while it's still in the car.

What size are the Miata lines?

3/16in or 4.75mm.
Do NOT get copper, but cunifer.

The fittings are M10x1.0 except for anything Wilwood, which is not metric.

All the hard lines are done, tight and sealed. System bled, hard pedal. So the car is drivable at least

Now onto the wiring harness. I figured all the sources so now it's just a matter of connecting it all and hoping it works

The NB2 ABS unit is in, so time for a test.
Works amazingly, when it works. Faulty sensor made me go 4x4.

Test session at Zandvoort yesterday:

That would be the faulty ABS sensor followed by "exit stage left" and code red for the rest of us

The ABS (when not trying to kill you) did feel like a drastic improvement over the earlier stuff from the passenger seat. Considering that the NB stuff also removes ~6lbs from the nose off the car compared to the NA unit its one upgrade that is definitely on my winter to-do list.
