Neat, very interesting.

So, the 2002 HZ Yellow LS is a Miata? :giggle:

Stoked for you Ian.

Ken Hill 06-04-2016 06:28 PM

Yes, it's a Miata. HZ is the paint code for the Sunburst Yellow cars made in 1992. Mazda reissued the color in 2002 as an extra cost paint color and renamed it Vivid Yellow. "LS" refers to the trim level of the car.

I'm a big fan of yellow cars in general and especially Miatas and RX7s. I had a Sunburst '92 and now have the Vivid '02. I just refer to them both at HZ Yellow.

The 92 was the submarine, right?

Top feed oil injection

I replaced the oil cooler in the Miata, it shouldn't be leaking any more. :)

molested/neglected ones do.
the well kept ones are dry :)

aidandj 06-05-2016 11:33 PM

Nobody likes it dry. That's just painful.

Deleted double post.

Looks good but kinda needs either a tiny drop or higher sidewall tires?

It's on stock suspension right now. The 25-year-old shocks have 55K miles on them and could probably do with being replaced. I'm undecided on what to do with it.

These are 245/40R17 RE71Rs, which are tiny bit shorter than stock (225/50R16). The 255/40R17s would have been my first choice (a similarly tiny bit taller than stock), but they're out of stock for a month so I went with the 245s instead.

17x9 6ULs with the +48 offset.

Goodwin has the Ohlins coilovers on sale for almost $700 off the usual price ($2315 vs $3K) which is tempting me, but I've sort of blown my budget already... :)

Ugh. :cjerk:

that rx7 is so beautiful.

It looks photoshopped into each photo.

codrus 06-13-2016 04:34 PM

Woohoo, the FD is now smogged, registered, and plated. I can drive it without worrying about the CHP pulling me over for no tags!

The 'smoked' before the ninja edit made me nervous ;)

Stupid autocorrect! :) The RE-71Rs have too much grip to be making much smoke.
