Preview of the new wheels mounted.
Got it ready for Putnam. Just need to wash and load up.
I forgot, I think we solved my part throttle hesitation. Turns out the TPS was adjusted so it didn't read for the first maybe 10 percent. Readjusted it now.

It may seem like I abandoned this thread, but that is mostly because I abandoned the car for a while. Blew another engine up during the first lap at NCM. Looks like potentially dropped a valve and destroyed piston 4. Haven't fully torn it down, but it's ugly in there.
Left the car sitting outside for a while and focused on the MG instead.
I sourced a replacement engine now and have it almost installed, just need fluids. Also swapped out my fuel pump for a DW200 to solve my low pressure. Looking to make Mid Ohio in a few weeks. This engine needs to survive a while.

Got engine #3 running! Tune Saturday, then Mid Ohio the following weekend. Fingers crossed this one survives.
I guess this is technically the third K24, but fifth engine for this chassis.

One of the primary ideas of the last engine death is maybe the VTC accidently over traveled. TracTuff sells a simple limiting pin, so I went ahead and got a 40 degree pin just in case.
Ran into a small problem trying to install it...
Turns out this pin is only for the older 50 degree gears which are wider. Did lots of measuring and consulting with TracTuff and they were kind enough to provide guidance on modifying their pin to fit the z3 gear. I'm sure work loved the mess of parts on my desk for a couple days though.
Ended up settling on 0.118" diameter x 0.726" length and a machinist co-worker made one for me. It sits in the gear and looks like it is supposed to be there now.
Since I have terrible luck with everything K24 related, this obviously couldn't go smoothly. I was putting the pin in (night before the dyno of course) and dropped the torx bit down the timing cover as I was finishing up. Drained and fished around inside the oil pan for a while and didn't find it. Ended up finding it with a borescope sitting on the oil pump gear. I was about ready to pull the engine and go searching, so really lucky.
Of course, that was all during my dyno time. Rescheduled to hit the dyno tomorrow morning. Pending another catastrophic failure of some sort, still on track for Mid Ohio next weekend.

Well Mid Ohio went a lot better this year! No blown engines!! I did develop a miss throughout the event that I think we have nailed down to bad coils. I did drop out of race 4 due to this issue, but there was a big accident, so I didn't really miss anything. The only other issue is that I lost all the packing from the K-Power muffler, but that is normal for those.
Overall very fun event, mainly glad the car survived.
Did have a little too much fun in the fun race on Sunday and took a ride through T1.
