I picked up a set of Sparco seats for the Miata, the Corsa will go to the Driver side as it is a tighter fit (especially in the leg bolsters), the Evo will go on the passenger side to allow a wider range of folks to fit. Curious to see if I can bolt them to factory sliders as I have heard that this has been done.
Also found some vibration sources. Cut some hose and split it in half length-wise to act as a bushing for the Intercooler. You can see it already did a number on the paint up there..
I am looking at the possibility of getting the MFactory 3.3 gears treated (Cryo, REM and then WPC), debating picking up and pulling apart a Torsen to get all of that treated too. Definitely a winter project..
If you go to get cryo, get it cryo cycled, not just cryo treated. It involves slowly lowering and raising the temperature multiple times and is more beneficial than a single time.
I was having issues starting so I swapped out my NA for NB starter over Thursday night. Took the car out and killed the 6spd in short order this afternoon when I chose to pass someone in 6th. I suspect I sheared off a section of a gear as I nearly lost all of 6th and proceeded to eat the rest of 6th as I came up to my exit and found I could not get it to move the car off of traffic under it's own power as gears were locking up and had to push it with the help of a very nice stranger to the shoulder off of the offramp. I then spent 2.5 hours waiting for a tow, at least it was a great day out?
I need another 6speed in the mean time or to go Turbo2 or Getrag260. Issue is, cost. Ho hum.
We are running the same 6/3.9, finished up at the dyno on Friday and stopped at 405whp/280wtq/7500 rpm. Thought if we stayed there till a Getrag swap it would be fine. But you’re running a much higher torque if I followed your thread correctly.
I believe I've decided on the KMiata E30 Getrag 260 transmission / CTS 3.23:1 diff swap. Should give me the best range of gears for the power I'll be making In the mean time, the car goes into long term storage.
Cruise control bits are purchased, just need the computer and clockspring assembly and I can do some long drives without dealing with my leg cramping up.
First mod, some new speakers because the left one was buzzing pretty bad. Plans on a simple amplifier for things as this is going to be a shared car with my GF
TorsenII from ALLOFIT is being transplanted to SOMOFIT. I am waiting for my 3.3 R&P to get cryo-rem and sent to get WPC treated (no eta yet), then it all goes together into the new Miata with a 6spd (Makes a 5spd + 1 overdrive gear) and the MR Tall Angled Shifter. Old Miata gets a 3.2 Getrag R&P
Old motor mounts from ALLOFIT. Hooray for recycling.
While wiring in the speakrs... WHY IS MY FOOT WET?! Oh, a drip from above the clutch pedal. I bet I know what.s going on here...
Yup, there is it... Slapped some tape over the hole for now.
I have two spare parcel shelf panels, I am going to build a (removable for track days) 1cuft box and slide in a pair of 10tw3-d4 woofers behind the seats. Planned to use the glove box but it was too small. Kind of like his idea for hiding an Amp there too.
We've been making room in the garage for the Miata and Dad's 460bb Fairmont wagon project to do some over-winter projects and another round of porting on a second VVT head at some point. I have been eyeballing one of these fellas lately and they just went on sale too...
I'm going to work on my TIG welding skills and once I get my welds down one of my first projects will be a JIG for a twin scroll manifold for the 6758 - I originally bought a single scroll because a TS housing for the 6758 was not available and was not expected to be either. Now that I can buy one, I am again looking at it seriously. I'm going to try putting the turbo right where the TSE manifold has it but having not done this myself before we'll see if that can even be accomplished.
Welder acquired! Time to start working on my garage again... I am planning on using the PRL flange with stainless tubing. Not sure what design I'll end up with yet though..
I really like the Oval-to-Round design on the flange and recess which should make it easier to assemble. I will need to practice welding mixed material (steel / stainless in this case..).
I think I need to look into buying a tube bender in the future...
Oh that's quite convenient, I'll likely be reaching out to pick one up soon once I recover from this latest round of purchases...
I picked up a hardtop for use between BOTH cars, I forgot just how quiet it is to drive with one mounted (except for the damn rattles..) - The stripe is growing on me.
Because I'm paranoid and live in a shitty part of my town, I picked up some hardtop brackets. I went with the JASS motorsports brackets, the side brackets look more appealing to me than the other options on the market. I am going to use a selection of different hardware to make it a real bitch to steal this thing.
Picking this cart up later, on sale for 15 bucks off. I'll pickup a torch cooler or plasma cutter for the middle shelf. Still need to find the biggest 7" argon bottle I can find though..
Can't get the damn HT bolts loose, one started to turn and was locked tight. I'll be heating up a screwdriver with some propane to apply a little heat. Whose idea was it to use PHILLIPS bolts for this ****?

Agreed, I had a hell of a time getting the brackets off my HT. I'd recommend using a screwdriver and torch to put some heat into it and if you can get your hands on a 1/4" impact driver, it does a good job to break the LockTite free.
The cart, welding table, gloves, helmet and tungsten are picked up. I just need the Argon and welder to get here Monday. I have all next week off to start learning on that thing, excite!
