Missed that. Excited to see a 7163 pushed. I think you will need a transmission solution before you find out how far it will go. IMO the best solution on the market right now that isn't completely custom is Miata BP/RX7 TII Transmission Adapter Plate - Maverick Motorsports + FC trans + rear trans mount + getrag diff.

find the limit of the msm trans before you start contemplating frankenhybrid transmission setups
if this is a street car you'll be surprised at how much power the msm trans will take my theory is it will take at least 500-600 if you have mechanical empathy and street car |
Did you see he switched to a 7163? Why get an EFR if you aren't going to get all that awesome spool. Just get an ebay gt40 :)
|
yep, sure did
I bet it's gonna be a while before he actually maxes it out, and I'd hate for this build to take a stupid long detour when we don't really even know the limit on a street car |

Short checklist of things I need to complete in the near future
(Disclaimer- this is my first time doing all of this so I am sure I am missing some things, if anyone catches something please let me know, constructive criticism is welcomed) Engine bay- -Build wheeler/ dolly type contraption to roll the car out of the garage -Sand blast engine bay -Bondo work -Had sand/ Re sand blast -Apply primer/ Paint (choose paint color) Electrical- -Strip loom from wiring harness -Separate wires/ connectors between engine wires and wires being ran on the outside of the engine bay (Driver side exterior- Headlight, Turn Signal, Radiator Fan, Horn, Hood Latch Cable) (Passenger side exterior- Headlight, Windshield Motor, Turn signal) (Engine wires/ connectors- Coil Pack, CAS, crank sensor, O2,Trans Plugs, Alternator, Starter, ECU Temp Sensor, Fan Temp Sensor, Gauge Cluster Temp Sensor, Flex fuel sensor) -Source grommet for firewall for the harness going to the engine bay -Get fuse box mounted behind glove box -Run battery harness back to battery |

Shaving down all of the welds in the bay is complete, I ended up using an 80grit flap disk for this which worked wonders when grinding down the bay. I am going to be using Rage Gold body filler next. I have also determined the color I would like to do the bay in, something as close to this metallic silver/ grey as possible. I am going to be checking in with the machine shop tomorrow to see how the progress is going, hopefully I get everything back soon, I am starting to get anxious!

Starting to lose motivation for this project :/ I feel like there is still an infinite amount of stuff to be done, and I still have not gotten my engine back from the machine shop and likely wont have it back until the 16th.

Also, I realize machine shops never meet their deadlines, however they have currently had it almost 3x longer than what they quoted me. Which realistically is not a huge deal given the fact that I do not NEED it right this moment, however it is sort of holding up progress. |
Just wait till you have all the parts and are still unmotivated because there's just so much to do and you sit there and cry alone and question why you started this in the first place.

So, i am starting to piece together my fuel system. The system will not retain any of the stock parts except the fuel tank, and the top hat. All the lines, rail, injectors, fpr, ect will be replaced.
This fuel system is built to handle constant ethanol usage. Fuel rail- I believe I am going to try to get the fuel rail that FM has, but without the line they sell with it. I am open to alternate options for dual feed rails https://www.flyinmiata.com/flyin-mia...lines-na6.html Injectors, 1000cc BOSH EV14 Injectors (fixed for derpness) http://www.deatschwerks.com/products...-0095-4-detail In tank fuel pump, DW300 Standard Fitment Fuel Pumps : DW300 In-Tank Fuel Pump | DeatschWerks Fuel Lab 82801 In line fuel filter 828 Series In-Line Fuelab Filters | Fuelab AEM fuel pressure regulator Universal Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Hard line fittings from the tank Russell Fuel Rail Fitting Adapters 640863 - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing And whatever other misc fittings i will need |
You don't want to touch EV6 injectors with a 10 foot pole. ID1000's are what you should be buying.
|
FM sells the fuel rail by itself. Just call or email them.
Also, don't get EV6 injectors. I think the famous quote is "give me EV14, or give me death!" Damn Lars beat me to it. |
