Downmenteds NA8 E85 EFR7163
Howdy, I guess its time I introduce myself, I'm Chris aka Downmented, located in the DMV area, and I have a Miata that I want to do things with.
Currently the car has things on it, that make it do stuff like,
-BC coilovers
-Janky *** ebay intake
-Noname header with roadstersport exhaust
Just recently ordered the Fab9 EFR6258 7163* kit.
Plan for the "build"/ Project for now are to get the turbo setup installed, and get it tuned safely for the stock block, which I already anticipate not lasting too long. I dont really have any goals with the car, just more power, and more fun.
List of items that I already have ordered, or are on the list to order,
Already ordered
-Fab9 sidemount manifold
-Fab9 downpipe
-EFR6258 7163* vband/ ewg
-Tial MVS 38mm ewg
-Intercooler Core
Need to order,
-AEM EMS4
-Injectors (open to suggestions)
-DW301 in tank fuel pump
-Full clutch kit Considering a happymeal kit(Open to suggestions)
-COP setup, likely the FAB9 pnp kit
-Will have custom intercooler pipes fabbed up from a local fabrication shop
A few questions I have for you guys.
-I know the MS ems comes with the parts to delete the MAF sensor, and it does not appear as if the AEM has that option with the kit, what all do I need in order to delete the MAF entirely from this setup?
-Other than a compression check prior to all of this, and getting the EMS installed and functioning, is there any other items I should address prior to moving forward with this turbo project?
Attached are a few photos
(End result- built motor with high compression pistons, full e85, aiming for ~550whp. Read through thread for all the info!)

I am prepared for this to be the case, the goal is to get the turbo setup installed, and running before the built block goes in. 1 item at a time makes for easier diagnostics of any potential failures. Although this is my first turbo miata, it isnt my first rodeo with turbo 4cyls and built motors. Previous project was a Mazdaspeed 6 and a top mounted precision 6265 @41psi
Also, just moved in to a new house this past weekend, and the miata has a new home!

Well, I've come to the realization that I need to go ahead and build the spare block before I put the turbo kit into the car so that way everything will go in at once. So I've begun pulling the spare block apart a little bit at a time when I have free time. This block was removed from the csr just over a year ago when I was on vacation and the car broke down.
So far I have the head pulled off of the spare block, next will be to pull out the rods and pistons.
Recently ordered-
Aem ems4
Fab9 COP kit
FM 36-2 trigger wheel
Still waiting for-
Fab9 turbo manifold
Downpipe
Tial mvs wastegate
Oil/ coolant lines / fittings
Motor build plan-
Manley rods
Wiseco pistons (undecided CR)
99'-00' head
Likely run the begi intake manifold
Supertech +1mm valves and springs
ARP Hardware
ACL bearuings
Boundary engineering oil pump
Super miata damper
Once i have the rods/ pistons and bearings I will take everything to the machine shop so they can work their magic and assemble the bottom end.

Well, since my last update, I have transitioned into a new job, gone to Vegas for SEMA, and taken my family to Disney World, giving me little time/ money for the Miata.
Recently received/ Ordered
-ATI damper
-Wiseco 10.5:1 83.5mm pistons
-Manley H-beam+ rods. (special order so they're 2 weeks behind)
Next week I will place my order for everything for the cylinder head
-BP4W head
- Supertech +1 Intake Valves
- Supertech +1 Inconel Exhaust Valves
- Supertech 63lb double spring set (unless someone suggests a heavier spring for any reason)
- Buckets, valve seats
- Bearings for bottom end, likely ACL pending availability
- ACT 6puck sprung clutch / flywheel kit
ARP head studs/ oem head gasket
Things I will still need to source/ decide on (will be running %100 E85 since i have multiple stations locally)
-Square top intake manifold
-Fuel rail/ ID1000 injectors
-Fittings/ line for fuel system
-AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
-DW301 In tank fuel pump
-LS coil conversion
-70D AWR mounts
-6spd Transmission
-BE oil pump
-Coolant re-route
-Radiator (undecided on which one at the moment)
There is still a hand full of smaller items that I will need to address once everything is together and running, but making progress none the less. Unfortunately the machine shop I'm going through has an 8-10 week turn around time :/

Yep, yep, and thank you
I had a lot of amazing results on my previous project with high compression and e85 so its a no brainer for me. Hopefully I am able to get everything together within the next few months, I'm getting anxious lol
