This thing is a spoolin beast. 4th gear from 2000 I hit full boost (7psi waste gate) at 2700. so far I'm happy with the parts that I selected. the Artech stuff looks great and fits perfectly. It makes power where I like to drive.
I love the big magnaflow my old exhaust was way too loud this is perfect. The only problem I'm having right now is there is a vibration at low rpm since putting on the turbo. Almost feels like a tire rub (it isn't) taking off from a stop then clears up. Haven't been able to figure it out yet.
If anyone has any ideas I'm open to listen.

On my shake, rub, vibration or wherever it is doesn't happen in reverse only in first. And started when I put the turbo stuff on. Any ideas?????

I bent up a little heat shield. Hopefully enough to keep me from melting anything important

My water temps are a little higher than I'd like. 215-220*F . I have the 949 cross flow radiator and reroute. I'm going to work on some ducting this weekend to make sure all of the airflow is through the core. Does anyone have ant great street car ducting ideas for an NB with A/C and a big FMIC?

When are your coolant temps getting high?At cruising on the interstate, idling with ac on? Use the stock undertray for the back half, cut holes for ic pipes. Then use election signs and cardboard to template out the front section. Also when was the last time you burped the coolant system and how did you do it?

Burped it last night. Jacked the front end up 10" and stuffed a funnel in the neck and kept it full until no more air bubbles. Then filled the overflow can. I pushed my radiator back for some inter cooler room and have a big gap for air to flow around it. I'm sure a little ducting will fix it.
Thanks

I worked on radiator ducting a little yesterday and it still runs hotter than I want it to.
The problem the way I look at is ALL of the air coming in the bumper opening goes into the intercooler straight through the a/c and the radiator. No air is moving through the top half of the radiator.
so the air that the radiator is getting is already heated a little I need some fresh air at the radiator especially the top half. Anyone with similar issues or fixes. I will have some time to work on it tonight

Right. So duct it, not, in that fashion. From the top of the bumper opening, run the ducting at an angle, towards the top of the radiator core. The idea is to take the bumper opening profile, and the rectangle profile of the radiator, and connect them together, with minimal "holes". Also, sealing off the top of the radiator with a cooling plate on the engine bay side, is often easier than trying to seal it off from inside the bumper.

I think I made some progress last night. I was able to get some fresh air over the intercooler to the radiator. I drove around for about 20 miles with no temps over 200*F. I still may add hood vents as it isn't hot out yet.

I added these last night. Now I have a new question with the louvers it sounds like a leaf blower going down the street,. the spool made noise before but now it is loud...
I have a K&N cone filter right in front of the turbo. what can I change to muffle the spool noise? It is a little crowded in the corner behind the headlight because of how I ran my charge piping.
Any Ideas?

I installed my EBC over the weekend. (the DIY one) the ms3 closed loop boost control works well even for a noob like me.
I bumped the boost up a little now at 175kpa.
That seems to be a pretty good power level for a street only driver.
I'm still not 100% sure on how to tune the boost bias. I have been logging then fill in the chart with the percentage shown in the log.
That is my understanding on how to do it.
My car is running pretty well now and not overheating.

I decided last night to go advanced and try the PID tuning. only got to datalog a couple of pulls. it goes right to the target. then dips a little then slowly tapers off about 15kpa at redline. I will try and raise the "I" tonight and see if it holds the target better. I'll post a log when I get it a little closer.

Sounds like you're making great progress. I always wanted to do a 2554 vvt setup and just enjoy the v6 torque everywhere

I think the taper up top is likely just the turbo starting to run out of breath. The more you turn it up, the more it will taper up top but make excellent midrange.

Not really dead. Just not much of a poster. I still drive it and work on it all of the time. Pm me. I'd like to have another car to check out and get ideas from.

A quick update. Since my last update in July I have done poly bushings in the front suspension, new alignment, MR tall angle shifter, and Mazda comp motor mounts. (my driver side was in 2 pieces)
still need to do bushings in the rear suspension and the dif. mount. I have some parts to build new coil brackets. the sheet aluminum ones that I fabed up are cracking. If my new idea works I'll post up some pics.
always working on my tune and trying to understand everything that is going on there.
over all just having fun driving it back and forth to work and playing on the weekends.
I like my setup for my area and driving style i think it is perfect.
No dyno or VD yet.

How do you like the MR shifter? It makes driving the car so fun. I can't wait to get some stiff engine mounts in the car, my stock ones are toast.
