Thanks y8s. Do I have to do this for every input or is there some extra inputs on the expander that I can use safely without doing this?

Also, brainiac, do you have any more of those alternator control boards left?

If I have to build the alternator circuit later on the proto area in addition to those input mods (what should I call them?) I am afraid I will be running out of room shortly.

Is Peter Florance still active in the MS community? His website hasn't been updated in some time.

You can indeed use the MS3X inputs. I copied the circuit for my input.

These are all fine:
Datalog In
Tableswitch In
Nitrous In (jumper installed)
Launch In

I can look tonight. I might have 1 or two more. To make it properly work, you need to build an output circuit on JS0 or Js2 or alike to trigger the TIP125 on above 300RPM.

Looks like you have some frieds resistors and traces in the mainboard INJ outputs cirucit.

R15, R20, exposed traces around U4

Yeah, that was related to me blowing U4 trying to use it to drive my fans... Can I live without those resistors and runs or do I need to get a new bare board?

What is my prognosis doc?

Where can I go to find out how to make this? It feels like I am rapidly running out of room...

I was hoping to keep datalog, tableswitch and launch... Was I supposed to use the conditioner(?) circuits for these as well?

Re: Brain, datalog, launch etc

That is interesting. Every time I get a reply like that I see my project taking another two days to a week to get back on the road...

putting this here so it's in multiple spots even though it wasn't aimed directly at me:

AND:

INJ F
INJ G
INJ H
Nitrous 1
Nitrous 2
Boost
Tacho
VVT

To activate the a/c compressor and a/c fan.

I mean, that's the reason you pay the $90 to buy the epxander board...so you don't have to build circuits.

Mother of #@$@!!

I just saw this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...-inside-70629/

I am guessing this means I should probably try and replace C16 while I have it apart as a preventative measure?

I have a Fry's Electronics on the way home from work, I can pick one up there I am pretty sure.

not a bad idea, but just fwiw, I've only had 3 blow one me so far and I've probably built 30-40 MS3x units. so far, and probably closer to 300-350 units altogether.

a 22uF rated at 35V from digikey will run you close to $4 each.

I am just worried about blowing traces. I can solder fine (in my opinion) but I know squat about repairing boards to the point of accomodating blown traces.

To me it looks like cheap insurance.

Back to U4 for a minute... Since I am not using the injector drivers anymore, any reason I can't just leave U4 out and not worry about fixing or replacing those resistors/traces? I see Frank doesn't even install that stuff.

Can you guys take a look at my proposed inputs and outputs above and either bless them or tell me where I am going to frak up?

As soon as my daughterboard arrives I will be burning it and hooking it all up. Working on wiring harness, spreadsheet, and msq to match as we speak.

regarding the A/C input and fan outputs, they look fine.

purge control... not even sure it's worth it. I did it but forget if i enabled it.

other fuel outputs can be for stuff like IC sprayers or water injection or who knows.
