Andrew's guesstimate turned about to be just about dead on. Around 35% D/C on the boost table. Around 9psi down low tapering to around 7psi higher up. 20° timing on E85 to make the 220whp power cap and area. We had a minor setup issue to sort out on the dyno so we ran out of time to make a smooth map. Left the thumb drive at the dyno so no plot to post anyway. Played with a high power map for a few pulls, around 17psi and the same 20° timing saw it hit around 260whp at 5800 before the stock NB1 coils and .032 plug gap gave up. Guessing it'll hit 300 pretty easy once we get the COPs installed and can play with that map a bit more. The torque and response of this thing is nuts. Zero lag at anything above around 2500rpm. Drives like an N/A engine and that's with map that doesn't have the accel enrich dialed in yet.
We'll go back next week with the COPs, clean up the tune and be able to post our S1 map as well as the high power map plots.

Car ran great in it's first race weekend. We didn't have time to shake it down so morning practice was it. Fast right out of the box. Few adjustments here and there but rock solid otherwise. Ambient temps hit mid 80's. Coolant never went above 194° under load, oil temps around 240°. Brakes consistent. One issue we had was boost getting past the OEM check valve in the vacuum line to the booster. So we would lose some booster assist on a few turns. Hard to brake consistently but that should be an easy fix. Other issue was idle and accel enrich in map. stead state power was amazing but idle and tip in were very rough. Cost me placing both days but when I could drive around those issues, it was as fast as Andrews S1. Had to replace the front bumper skin so it was only primered. We'll get that painted this week. I'm running 1100/500, 54106 (1.25") front, 14mm SPM adjustable rear. Roughly -4° front and about 2.5° rear camber.
S1's are still surprising us with their speed. on 13CW I did a 1:54.0 in practice, Andrew did a 1:53.9 in the race. We think perfect weather and a perfect driving lap could be a high 1:51. And that's at only 200whp on RC1's. Easy sub 1:50 with either another 1-2psi or a set of 225 R7's. The EFR is so driveable. Truly N/A feeling at anything above about 2500rpm, zero lag with E85 and a 3" exhaust. Thing just leaps off the slow turns in 3rd gear. Video to follow.

From Buttonwillow last weekend. So much fun to drive. Gonna be an animal with the boost turned up and the 245/580 Hoosier slicks on it. Marker light missing because we ran out of time to cut the housing to clear the new support brace behind it. Since it just fed into the semi-sealed intake box we just left it. I think we'll put a fine mesh over it for MRLS. Bumper getting painted now. Next splitter will be Alumalite. Went off in Riverside at about 105mph and destroyed this one.
One issue both William and I had on our S1's is the brake booster either not getting enough vacuum or leaking vacuum. Result was inconsistent assist. Usually a bit too firm, sometime rock hard. Ordered some aluminum check valves Moto East offers for their NC turbo kits. If that doesn't fix it, we'll stick MAP sensors on the boosters to log whats's going on.

Intersting... I just had the same booster issues at Auto Club two weeks ago with my Rotrex car. At the end of the straight I didn't know what the brakes were going to do which caused me to early brake the whole day and have no confidence in them. Going to order this up!
The OEM valve in Andrews NA6 works fine. The OEM valve in William's NB2 doesn't. Go figure.

A few laps of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Bullet. Didn't dyno it but I'm guessing it was around 270whp or so. Just a quick n dirty map to make the event, AFR's in the low 10's, 19° and.. no idea how much boost. Added about 8% boost duty to my 200whp S1 map.
Brake booster is leaking or something. No assist so all 4 of us were tip toeing into the turns to keep it in one piece. Aero balance was just about perfect but mechanical grip balance was a bit too tight. Never looked at pyro so pressures were set precisely at whatever.5. We only went 2s faster than Andrew and he was full S1 spec. Balance and brakes corrected, actually caring what the pressures might be.. probably could have sneaked a low 1:35.
Been a long time since I drove a fast Miata. Nice to pass everything so easily. Really nice.

This is awesome. Seeing the kind of times these cars are posting at the popular Cali tracks is insane. Absolute weapon for ST 2/3/4 as well. Would be real interesting to see an ST2 setup with ~300WHP, 275 A7, and other things like full flat bottom, rear and side diffusers, etc etc. Interesting experiment to see if the wheelbase is a hindrance at that type of speed and downforce and what the durability would be like for the engine package.
