Had this lately, smell of gas on every fast right corner. In the end it tunred out that it was a broken fuel line clamp on the fuel filter under the plastic cover...

Seriously. While I was driving home tonight from doing a little boost tuning I impacted one going the speed of sound(another car and I were playing a game of who gets the ticket first). Didn't even see it, it was RIGHT as I changed lanes and I heard a huge thud and several more thuds as the bloody carcass managed to smother the underside of my car as if a butcher had freshly ground it up and then sprayed it all over everything.

Everything is covered and everything is now properly cooked onto anything that was hot. I wouldn't even be that mad if it wasn't for the fact that it smashed my front lip. Luckily it pulled the bolts out rather than breaking the lip or bumper.

and yes that is a **** load of bug carcasses after 1k miles of driving in 30 hours.



Also decided to do a quick filter/oil change as well. and take my radiator cowling off only to find 1/4 of its body just hanging out on the undertray.

Damn rodents!

I believe that qualifies your lip to be called a "splitter."

Hate to see this. Upon further inspection after my coyote incident, I found a lot more damage. Air guide was busted up. Some tabs on the front bumper cover were broken. Even the undertray broke some mounts. It was a sharp, blunt hit.

that ducks you found more damage. Those parts must have been pretty brittle with a lot of heat exposure.

I earned my splitter merit badge, maybe now I can put a real one on and an hour later destroy it on the first parking lot entrance.

Is this the definition of overkill? Since I had my under tray off decided to see if I could seal the radiator/intercooler better. I had a crap load of plumbers tape laying around so I sealed the intercooler to the lip and the radiator to the intercooler. Then put more tape along the radiator brackets to seal up the little gaps it has.

Probably won't help since my under tray is pretty flush with the radiator but I figured it couldn't hurt till I revise my cowling for a tighter fit. Maybe this way I won't need a new radiator as I'm planning to in the future.

Also flushed the coolant, bled the brakes(hadn't since I installed them), got all the bubbles out of the coolant, cleaned all the **** off the underside of the car, reattached the lip, got the undertray back on, tracked down a slow leak on the FPR which I believe was causing the gas fumes under high boost, and vacuumed the interior.

All ready for another autocross day this Sunday down in Vegas at the Speedway. Should be another day of fun, and hopefully I can be smarter with my Gopro.

Yup his name was El Jefe and had a glorious mustache. Looks don't matter on this part. You couldn't see it even if you tried to. The radiator cowling is snugged up against it.

Plus, as I stated earlier, it is only temporary till I revise my cowling for a better fit.

To be honest, the ducting works.. but I don't think I'd even do it that ghetto on my own (pos) car. Mainly because I've learned exactly how much I HATE having to re-do things, lol.

I'm sure it works great though. My not bend some ABS up and make it proper like?

HA! That looks a lot like Sharka's current radiator ducting. The floor of mine is coroplast, but it's held on by aluminum tape. Been that way for 2 years and it's holding together fine. Though I really need to redo it all pretty like.

Wish you could have made it man. It was a blast for the slim time I was able to stay. Ramp up the gauge production so that your side job can be your main job!

Once I get a design I'm happy with I'll take some measurements for everyone. I don't know what good it will do since everyone has a different setup but it couldn't hurt.

I'm unfamiliar with this method, I'll have to look into it.

Sign guy owed me a favor so I had him make up some magnetic autox numbers for this weekend in Vegas. Turned out good, may have to put a little tape on the leading edge depending on how fast I get going. That indent on the door panel seems like a nice little air pocket to pull it off the door.



Also had my windows tinted as well. Sadly with the plastic triangle window, film won't adhere properly to it so it won't match, oh well, not a ton of light gets through that area.



After using this POS to adjust my tire pressure last autox....



I ordered this up after a guy let me borrow his. Don't know why I've never seen one before but damn it is convenient!



Also bought a portable compressor to inflate the tires after the event/tires get cold. It was $25 on Amazon with hundreds of positive reviews so I figured why not. It is seriously tiny, a little smaller than a 1/2 gallon milk jug.



Now I just need to be smart with the gas pedal and my Gopro and Hornet won't lecture me again.

Put a little dab of plumbers putty in the front of the indent. Should come off clean with little residue, which will wipe right off.
