14point7 SLC FREE is $85 with a bosch 4.9 sensor.
sure you gotta solder and wire it yourself but its awesome and probably the most accurate reasonably priced AFR controller.

The 4.9 comes with the new AEM Wideband. The one that Jeff uses is a 4.2, which they are going to phase out.

AEM 30-4110 Write Up

Glad I installed my AEM 30-4100 UEGO Wideband in my WRX before I sold it. Now I can justify the stupidiy of installing a gauge and turning around and putting the car up for sale the next day.... because of new sensor ;)

You know where my wideband gauge is? In the glovebox. Because it just works and I don't need to calibrate it and MS is tuned well that it's always spot on.

If you need to constantly monitor your AFR you're doing it wrong.

Braineack 07-16-2014 11:57 AM

i never looked at my wbo2s; that's why i put the gauges below my radio.

I need to install my LC1 in my WRX one of these days.

The AEM wideband sensor is NOT AEM specific. It's an OEM Subaru unit that can be found for under $80. I found them around $55 a couple months ago, which is really not a big deal compared to the $40-$45 bosch that the Innovate products use that everyone finds reasonable.

Good to know. We'll see how long this one lasts. If the 4.9 sensor is as good as you say Soviet, I may have to eat the savings and try it. I'm just glad my car is running. I started to worry for a little bit until I noticed the gauge sweeping rich instead of lean and thought that may be a little odd. Thank god the sensor is easy to get to though, if this had happened on my VW I'd have to take off my axle to get to it.

I hope you are not talking about this 4.9

From the link I posted....
The 30-4110′s 4.9 LSU sensor uses a different connector than the connector used with the 4.2 LSU sensors included with the original 30-4100 gauge controller. The sensors are not interchangeable between the two gauge controllers in any way, including changing connectors on the gauges.

Good catch, thanks!

It sure is nice not looking awkward with the headlight cover missing. Paint shop did a great job on the spare cover I had. I drove the Miata to pick it up and all the guys who had painted it were blown away by how good it looked. I think it is rare for them to see their work all finished and put together. Took a couple of the painters for a spin around the block and terrified them a little. Fun to see that shit-eating-grin on others faces and not only your own while driving it.

Also on the way back home a Subaru BRZ decided he wanted to race me. Started to rev and honk at me and basically acted like he was going pull on some slow Miata. After several car lengths I think he got a clear idea of what he was dealing with. Poor guy wouldn't look at me at the next stop light, just stared straight ahead.

Today was a good day.

LoL, the BRZ/FRS are great on the track but they are no 1/4 mile drag car (stock). It is funny that he tried to race you. It is better that you put him in his place.

Did you end up getting a CF cover (painted) or a regular cover? I know you were talking about both.

I decided to save some money and just paint the spare I had from the totaled car. They had to fix a couple dents but it came out smooth. Paint shop went independent from Maaco and you can tell the difference in the quality of the paint/clearcoat.

I can't blame him to be honest. Who is expecting a Miata to be fast/turbo'd besides fellow owners. Before I started looking into them I thought the same. The BRZ looks so great. I'd love to take one on the track some day.

By the way. There is nothing quite like seeing a functional tuner studio AFR gauge. Smoothed my map up a lot on the dive up to Cedar and held 14.7 @ 85mph on the way back. Still a wee bit of oscillation I need to track down but TS matches about .1-.2 from the gauge.

It is a twitchy bastard on the highway. I had forgot what it was like not having a speed variable steering rack(VW). Not sure I'm too enamored with the NRG quick release. There is barely any play, really not much, but enough for me to notice.

I've eliminated all the wind noise in the cabin. So it is very nice not hearing air leak in. The window pop vents are magical. The exhaust noise really isn't that bad at cruising speeds but you are glad you have noise isolating headphones in after a while. So glad I did all the heat proofing and insulation. My right foot stays cool and I don't feel the burning inferno of the downpipe anymore.

Still trying to get my muscle memory to remember the sweet spot for this clutch. You have to rev and let out the clutch justttt right to get a smooth take off. Definitely an aggressive clutch engagement.

I'm going to get my first ticket in 10 years in this car...I can feel it in my plums. You can't not floor it in second, very addicting. Unfortunately flooring it in 2nd kicks the back-end out like you hit black ice, so caution is needed.
