First parts were put in the car on 3/20/17. Today was first start. I will update with some pictures of the exhaust and other things sometime. Have I mentioned the base maps on the Link are really good? I am constantly impressed with start and idle on it.
Custom exhaust got done last week on Friday. 2.5" out of the turbo for the first 8" or so, with a divorced waste gate, then right up to 3", flex pipe, resonator and right out the back. Slight trim to the shelf to get it to fit nice.
So updates. The exhaust sounds amazing. Not too loud, nice throaty rumble. No real ricer buzz or anything.
Also, car is rolling on the road! After a new battery first thing in the morning, it made the NJ Miatas meet and did over 200 miles on it's first day out. Our good friend Justin shot an amazing roller as well.
The day was not without event. Turns out the former turbo water line (now just a bypass for the thermostat) that runs off the cursed waterplug tap was lacking a clamp... Or rather, that clamp was 3" down the hose, rather than where it should be. Took about an hour of waiting for things too cool down, moving things, and cursing, to get it back on.
The art of getting the line back on the back of the engine, with a spacerless rerout hose in the way....
Got a chance to do a hot compression test today. Didn't get time to do wet numbers, but dry were: 180, 180, 180, 185 on 6 pumps. Not gonna complain about that for a $300 engine.
Oh man, this car has been though so much since I last updated this thread for Dev, lol. Including another crash, new front subframe, upgrad (19T) to the turbo, a kraken manifold, and the Link finally got flakey enough we threw a Speeduino at it to play with. Curious to compare it to a rusEFI. I have started really getting into learning the difference between different ECU and EFI systems.
