Do you have a plan for mounting the splitter to prevent tire damage if it's torn off or just taking the risk?

The giant splitter is only used for time attack. So if it gets turned off we have bigger issues then saving the tires. When we race wheel-to-wheel in S1 it is using a much more robust 4 inch splitter. The 4-inch splitter dimension was chosen specifically so you could damage one and still finish the race.
