Rotrex Supercharger kits @ 949Racing
#89
I'm really interested in the Rotrex setup though. I know the max horsepower probably isn't there compared to the current turbo setup I have right now (in boxes, not on the car), but the easy install/uninstall, dead-nuts reliability (including track use), and low intake temps are really, really tempting.

Emilio, what's the word on the Rotrex setup now? I saw over on m.net that 949 will not be carrying the Kraftworks kits and that Oscar Jackson is no longer affiliated with KW and will be releasing new products under Jackson Racing.
What's the upshot of all this for people interested in Rotrex setups?

SuperMiata and 949 Racing will no longer offer Kraftwerks branded Rotrex supercharger systems.
Oscar Jackson is no longer involved in daily operations at Kraftwerks and will continue with a new product lineup as Jackson Racing.
This is not an official press release for Kraftwerks or Jackson Racing. Just stating this here so folks will know why they can't find Kraftwerks on our site any more.
I have zero additional information regarding Kraftwerks or new Rotrex based supercharger systems.
With delays caused by some of the internal inefficiencies of the Kraftwerks operation out of the way, I expect to see some new stuff from Oscar before too long. I expect the www.JacksonRacing.com website will be updated as they get up to speed with new projects.

Interesting. Is there genuine interest on OJ Sr's part re: the NA/NB Miata platform? It's a bit "vintage" at this point, most of what they seem to be playing with are newer chassis.
Got to speak to him briefly at the '12 T-25, seems like a real nice guy.

I worked with Oscar Jackson at the 25hr race this year. He is back from retirement and going full steam ahead with the Rotrex program. I hope to see the Rotrex supercharger return from the dead on the Miata. We were able to achieve close to 300whp on my built motor using a C30-74 on E85.

Last time I checked, William Chen was also running an NB with a C30-74 huffing E85 and making around 230hp? It's been a while since we chatted though so that may have changed. Its quite respectable even at "only" 230

I know he is back in the Supercharger game. I can't say if he will offer the Miata version again or not. I know Jackson Racing still retains the rights to the design so going into production would not be to difficult. It's a business decision on his end. I know Emilio was excited in the early days and would have been a driving force behind the success. It would be great to see it revived.

That was Enzo circa 2009. I used that car to clinch the Miata Challenge Unlimited championship in 2009 after blowing my car up at RTA the previous month. We removed the Rotrex for him in 2011.

I believe we made 225whp non-intercooled. We detuned it a bunch to 230whp with the small FMIC as William wanted the already ancient engine to last the season. Pull the tiny restrictor and remap would have netted 285whp based on the dyno plots. Built engine with bigger FMIC would have easily gone over 300whp.
