2004 Mazda MX5 Mazdaspeed - $14,800
Category: Import
Status: Clean Title
I have a 2004 Mazda MX5 Mazdaspeed for sale, in USA - Iowa.
Mileage: 91500 miles
VIN: JM1NB354540409422
Engine Size: 1.8 Turbo
Asking price is $14,200
Seller Information: Cameron Freeman
Phone: (641) 821-0192
Email: cameron-freeman@uiowa.edu
My sad sob story in TL-DR format:
Bought a house, was more than I wanted it to be, must sell a toy.
Our 2004 Mazdaspeed MX5 is the perfect car for pretty much everything except off-roading in Moab. I daily this car and love every bit of it, but I need to cut something to make the mortgage comfortable.
The Speed has been modified very tastefully and none of the factory shortcomings are present. The changes from stock are as follows:
Chassis:
91k miles but this chassis feels more solid than any NA or NB I have ever driven. It is TIGHT.
Stock MS suspension with FM alignment. No crashing or underdamping from high miles, this car is extremely well controlled.
Brake pads - Hawk HPS, they dust a bit in the front.
Wheels - Varrstoen V3 15x8 ET25
Tires - Falken RT615K with ~1500 miles, wear is like new
COMPLETELY SPOTLESS UNDERSIDE (was a California car and never seen snow)
Body:
Brand new Mazdaspeed front bumper, lower lip and little side skirts just installed
Titanium Gray paint in good shape, some blemishes on the trunk lid and rear bumper
No paint chips on front end at all
Interior:
Roll Bar - Autopower 4 point
Leather seats in good shape
Audio - Kenwood CD player with SiriusXM radio tuner and Clearwater speakers
FM boost gauge, volt meter and NGK AFX Wideband
A bunch of rattletrap sound insulation
Engine/Drivetrain:
Flyin Miata Big Enchalada minus the ECU
Blouch IHI Turbo upgrade (one of sixty something of these turbos made!)
Magnacor plug wires and plugs
NXS ceramic ball boost controller
55mm Aluminum Radiator
Thompson oil filter relocate
Flyin Miata Stage 1 Airflow kit (fans and shroud)
RC 550cc injectors
Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 Standalone ECU
Mazdacomp motor mounts
Energy Suspension Diff mounts
Flyin Miata Level 2 Clutch (rated for 353 ft/lbs)
MSM Transmission freshly gone through, minor shift linkage parts and reverse blocking ring replaced.
**3.63 gears! (should have been stock)
New rear main seal and flywheel
Delrin shifter bushing and rebuilt shifter
and probably some other things I forgot about
This is the fastest Miata I have ever driven and also the best riding NA/NB I have seen. I get about 23 mpg with mostly city driving and 30-32 mpg on the highway. Car is set at 14-15 psi currently and tuned for 93 octane. I can adjust the tune accordingly if 91 octane is preferred. It made 245hp/238tq at altitude on 1-2 psi less than it is tuned on now with a much more conservative spark map, so you can do the math. I would say it is good for about 250-260rwhp in its current state. Even with the final drive gears swapped to 3.63 it will spin the tires from a roll in second gear, it is definitely not your average Miata and should be treated accordingly.
Overall the car is in really good shape and condition, someone will get a stellar example [of what some messaging can do to an MSM.

Why the new body pieces?
Do you still have the stock ecu and injectors?

Could you send me a bunch of pictures? Rear bumper, interior, engine bay, trunk, etc. Detail pictures would be appreciated. Send em to cardriverx@gmail.com.

Body panels were replaced because I hit a deer (headlight and fender damaged) and decided to freshen up the whole car while it was already in the shop.

Doesn't the Haltech replace the stock ecu? Or do you mean the stock ecu was unplugged and left there?
Title clean? Was there any frame damage? Did you get pictures of the damage?

I'll do my best on those pictures if the weather keeps from dumping rain after I am home today. I believe the stock computer is still in the stock location, but I do not have the stock the injectors.

Yes it does. It is still in the factory location but unplugged and the haltech is plugged in with a harness adapter. I will email you some pictures in a little bit. Have to finish mowing before dark!

You gotta start somewhere, right? I'm open to offers.
You never know until you ask. But I understand.
