1998 Jeep Cherokee - $3500 obo
Category: Domestic
Status: Clean Title
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee for sale, in USA - Illinois.
Mileage: 150000 miles
Engine Size: 4.0L 6cyl
Asking price is $3500 obo
1998 Jeep Cherokee 6cyl with 5 speed
Mild mods and recent maintenance. Selling because I never drive it... at most once a month if that and I've crossed my 2 'me' cars limit I set for myself.
No rust beyond little bits of undercarriage surface rust and a spot on the rear tailgate. The underside rockers are 100% solid. See the pictures to confirm. I've had only 1 issue with the vehicle and after replacing the starter I figured out it was corroded battery terminals/wiring. I've fixed that (along with a bunch of other tidbits) by going to fresh wire and repairing the terminals. Starts and gets me to where ever I need to go every time. No concerns to drive away from Chicago.
I have towed with the tow setup once, open trailer/crx on board. Towed great.
Best mileage to date was 21.5mpg driving normally without racing away from lights.
Towing was around 14-16mpg if I remember right.
1998 Jeep Cherokee w/~150k miles
Interior is Grey and not worn out, just needs a shampooing (it is exactly the same as when I bought it ~2yrs ago)
Exterior dark Blue and is a 5/10, no body rust outside round spot on back hatch, paint is faded in spots.
One fender flare was missing, I have a replacement (not installed)
Front brush guard middle post is rusting, rest of it seems quite fine though
Tires are 275/xx/15 Cooper Cobra All Season Performance tires, low miles and newer, they are not awesome in the snow....
Recent work done (within last 1000 miles):
Rear brake drums/pads all new
1 new rear brake piston
1 new rear brake line
2 new front swaybar endlinks
2 new front axle joints (no cluck with 4wd), used the proper quality Spicer u-joints
New Valve Cover gasket
New Distributor cap and rotor
New plug wires
New spark plugs
Oil/Filter change - Mobil Delvac
Air Filter
Duralast Gold Battery
Starter (when I thought starter was bad, it was corroded battery cables... can include old starter)
1 new headlight to match other which was newer
Replaced broken door holds/stays with 'new' junkyard ones
Upgraded front speakers
Upgrades:
Aftermarket cruise control (works great, was on Jeep prior to my purchase)
1.75" Rough Country Lift kit (front spacers, rear shackle, full set of new shocks)
New HD rear leaf springs (for towing/higher loads and old ones had sagged)
Jeep Grand Cherokee upper ceiling console (needs wiring adjusted and front mount figure out, sits just fine up there though)
Class 3 hitch
Hitch wiring (standard 4pin)
Locking hitch ball unit
Safari roof rack. An older quality one (I can't remember the brand), it was NEW and has not carried anything. Mounted by way of 4 factory roof racks.
Neon injectors (improved flow pattern and gas mileage)
Sport gauge cluster to get a real water temp/oil temp/tach (will include original cluster and currently gas level is not working, have not diagnosed why, just fill up off of odometer)
Extras available:
I have a variety of fog/driving lights available that if the price is right can be included.
Fluids for front/mid/rear diff, hadn't gotten around to it yet (no noises)
New Front rotors and pads
1 extra rear brake piston unit
Album for MORE pictures (there is a video of engine reving and a turn off/restart, it should be fully loaded soon):

Back on the market. Need to down size.
Only difference side original thread is two new washer fluid motors, little bit of rust showing at front bottom fender at bumper. Otherwise, same starts and goes everytime jeep.

Probably a couple hundred more at most. It gets driven maybe once a month, sat for majority of winter. I jumped into it for a Lowes run yesterday and a Wisconsin run this weekend. I can verify though, as mentioned it is on a different gauge cluster but I documented what the old was at (it'll pull up when plugged back in) and what the new one was at when installed (very worth it for real gauges IMO).
About the only thing i'd do with it is fluids (i have most sitting for if I got unlazy) and front brakes which work fine but you can tell the rotors are worn out. I have rotors/pads waiting for it.

This bugger is on the block next week, I want it a week longer to help finish a house move.. but its for sale then.
Dropping price down to $2500 so I don't have to try and fit even more cars at the new house.
Oh and new PS lines this last week, i found that the original high pressure line decided to start leaking and the other broke while replacing the first...

Found that out by small puddle last time I drove it. The HP line finally started to pee itself. Which of course meant that while fixing it... the other line split at the slightest touch. Not bad for the 16yrs and 150k+ miles of life its had though... of which its had so few miles since i bought it... the poor thing.
All fixed now though (well will be when I finish the other line that just came in the mail today).
